I always say that Cannibal Corpse has never put out a bad album in their 35 years. Although you may prefer one to another, they have never put out anything that wasn’t solid. So, whenever Cannibal Corpse puts out something new, I have high hopes and high expectations. The lineup for Chaos Horrific is the same as their 2021 album Violence Unimagined, and I was hoping for this one to be at least as good. After only one listen I realized that while I love Violence Unimagined, this really blew it out of the water. It’s stylistically similar, but even more brutal, and you can tell that they have really found their niche as a group when it comes to writing. Every new guitarist brings something new to the band, but Rutan and Barrett really crush the insanely fast, yet still memorable riffs. There isn’t a bad song on this album, and while 2023 was a great year for new metal, this stands out as my number one.
