EVIL

BOOK OF EVIL

The band Evil, has released a new album on May 27, 2022. They’re a band from Denmark, who back in 1984 released a debut EP called ‘Evil’s Message.’ And even though the EP is good, the band broke up the next year. Then, fast forward 30 some-odd years, the band released a full length album ‘Shoot the Messenger,’ only to break apart again… which brings us to the present day.

Now, with a new album and new Lineup which features original member Freddie Wolf on Guitar, Nikolaj Ihlemann also on Guitar, Jakob Haugaard, Bass, Henrik Molin, Drums and Vocalist Martin Steen of Iron Fire.

‘Book of Evil’ has 10 Songs, which clocks in at right around 45 minutes, and opens with a spoken Intro. It’s not too long and not too short in total playing time. The sound of this band is more oriented towards a classic, straight ahead Metal sound. The album has a good flow to it, with most Tracks being mid to up tempo, and has a standout Track in the beginning – ‘Divine Conspiracy,’ toward the middle – ‘Future Denied,’ and at the end of the album, which is the Title Track. And with a unique twist, the song ‘Evil’s Message’ is kind of a play-off of the first 2 Tracks from their debut EP – ‘Evil’s Message’ and ‘Evil.’

So all in all this is an excellent album, and it is heavy. This is what you get when you combine a heavy band with a very good singer. Every member turns in a very strong performance, and the sound production itself is fantastic!

This will be a contender for Album of the Year.

8.5 out of 10 Rating.
