Top of the current charts reviews and countdown based on streaming from all platforms:
Falling in Reverse
The album boasts huge hits this year that fused metal, rap, orchestra and even edm style as Ronnie Radke continues to set the bar high, even dipping into a hit rock/ country song with Jelly Roll that topped the charts in 2024.
Controversy continues to follow this trail blazing artist as he had been called racist, homophobic, transphobic and attracts many haters due to his success, despite having the most diverse staff and music video members, and even featuring rap legend Tech N9ne along with Alex Terrible. Including trans Blair White in the music video all my life and a Ronnie’s own favourite merch manager identifying as liking men. It is clear the bashing stems from jealousy, but that doesn’t stop this outspoken and tenacious artist from doing what he does best alongside his fellow band mates, writing damn good music, and entertaining us all while trolling the trolls.
Ronnie has evolved past his previous hit “Alone” and truly honed his skills even further in the rap scene, being a fusion to be reconned with.
With hits that make you just wanna head bang and crank it up in the car till the bass hits your heart, and the screams ignite the fire in your chest and let you get it out screaming along, to a square dance with jelly roll even your parents may dig it’s so catchy, or some tongue in cheek attitude with incredible flair and undeniable talent. Falling in Reverse has clawed its way to the top of the charts this year and stayed there, with incredible live performances.
The numbers in streams alone speak for themselves, as the album took the scene by storm this year.
Bad Omens
With hauntingly beautiful vocals led by Noah Sebastian, and powerful rock choruses that hit you in the guts like “just pretend” to the eerie somber “Death of piece of mind” tracks from Bad omens pack a punch or soothe the soul, that speaks to many.
One can hear a fusion of the weekend, eilish and post Malone into the singers incredible voice that can turn from melodic to face slamming faster than it can make your head spin, in such an incredible composition it’s no wonder Bad Omens is one of the top streamed artists on many platforms.
Though the newest song VAN doesn’t feature Noah it does have the incredible musicianship we expect from bad omens with a unique sound with a female lead that is catchy to the ear.
Though Noah took a mental health hiatus this year, which we can all understand given their fast thrust to the top of the charts this year. We will be happy to see them back at their own pace.
A great musician once said “it’s better to burn out than fade away” but in this case, nobody wants Noah doing either. With a strong fan base, they have solidified a mark on metal that will echo into generations.
We’re all looking forward to what these incredible musicians get up to next, but as the masses have agreed, at a pace that allows for the health of the artist; which is paramount.
So if you love a perfect fusion between dark incredible lyrics and melodies that are both beautiful but badass with a good hard screaming punch, this is where it’s at.
Linkin Park
Bursting back on the scene again with hits like “The emptiness machine” which amassed 72 million views alone on YouTube, and many streams elsewhere, Linkin Park has introduced a new single has seemed to be more accepted than the shock of the introduction of their new singer Armstrong is an American singer and co-founder of Dead Sara, who leads the band after Chester Bennington died in 2017 leaving loved ones and band mates alike as well as fans heart broken.
With mixed feelings especially at first and a negative reaction from Chester’s child which I’m sure would be heart breaking to hear for any band they have went on to top the charts, we all imagine making Chester proud, as an old interview of him, it had been discussed that if one of the members was gone that the band should continue on without them.
Armstrong does truly remind us of a female Chester vocally, and really it would be hard to see a guy step in to such big shoes. Despite the backlash she kept her head up high and continued on dropping a major hit this year where some would have crumbled under the pressure.
One can hope he is smiling down knowing we do enjoy the new music but his legacy remains untouched, fused into our childhood and memories forever.
The new female lead definitely adds attitude to this band with Mike Shinoda bringing us back with nostalgia but also awakening us to the new.
Hate it or love it, it has made an impression this year and many will be curious to see how it grows and enjoy the music both old and new.
Sleep Token
There is no denying the melody that juxtaposes the heavier sounds in “Take me back to eden” is not catchy. With a deep but slightly operatic tone in his voice Vessel delivers something new to the metal scene this year, hitting the charts with massive streams.
With mystery surrounding the identities of Vessel lead singer of Sleep token and the rest of the band, the band wiped their instagram accounts following an alleged leak of their identities. The band continues on in mystery and lets us appreciate the art of their music with a darkened gothy image the way slipknot rocked masks since our childhood giving an incredible theatrical effect.
From alternative metal, post-rock/metal, progressive metal, indie rock/pop, some djent. There is no doubt this band is unique in its fusion topping charts and taking us away in to a land of imagination.
Motionless In White
With a fusion of metal and edm, even older hits like “Masterpiece” were dragged to the top of the charts this year along with the new songs like “sign of life” and “Werewolves”, MIW has stood the test of time delivering hit gothic metalcore edm fusion albums with ferocity that can be seen in their breakdowns and incredible screams and timing of the composition of their music.
Though it seems there is a bit of a fued going on with other another famous rock group, it hasn’t stopped people from enjoying and loving both.
Goth anthems with attitude and cyberpunk edm give this album and past a beat that gets the blood pumping and never fails to live up to expectations
With a distorted modern Marylin Manson-esque sound but with its own unique flavour, Chris motionless and Motionless in white as a whole is multifaceted talent even in his cover of “Bright side”.
Worth a look for both metal and edm lovers alike.
Bring Me The Horizon
On the scene since the 2000’s we have seen this band grow from extremely heavy screamo, to a fusion, to edm mixed with rock, to and electric eclectic cyberpunk style and its music is ever inspirational, winning awards for its achievements in metal.
There is no denying the impact Bring me The Horizon has had and will continue to have on further generations, inspiring, relating and closing wounds they never caused with their songs. It will stand the test of time.
Thought this isn’t what we always expect from bring me the horizon, we have learned to expect the unexpected, and it’s a pleasant surprise. Most definitely a band that no matter your preferred genre if you dig deep enough you’ll find something that will likely pique your interest on there journey to exploring themselves as artists, with massive hits like Ludens in the past and incredibly astounding album Amo forging a way, there is no doubt that bring me the horizon will continue to consistently deliver pleasant surprises to us all catching us off guard with their incredibly diverse talent, ever evolving, and we’re here for it.
