ALBUM REVIEW – TYGERS OF PAN TANG

Tygers Of Pan Tang: Live Blood (Live)

Review By: Jim Harrison

Review Score 9.5

NWOBHM originators Tygers Of Pan Tang released their live offering Live Blood to anticipated fans worldwide on April 26yh, 2024. Partnering with their record label Mighty Music where they have released three full length albums including their critically acclaimed latest album Bloodlines in 2023.

It’s exciting to get a live album from a band that puts so much effort and talent into their performances giving fans a musical experience that is second to none.

Guitarist Rob Weir leading the way with long time members Jack Meille, vocals and Craig Ellis, drums with their two new recruits from Bloodlines Francesco Marras guitarist and Huw Holding bassist set a fuse on this album creating that fantastic live experience that elevates this to another level.

This album encompasses their whole career and what is really cool is there is so much material off their latest album.

Some of the many highlights begin with the intro of the Tyger roar that gets things started. Classics like ‘Euthanasia’ and ‘Keeping Me Alive’ gets the audience into a frenzy that gets everyone singing. Jack screams ‘Gangland’ and again gets a huge response from the ground as this is a classic that really gets the fans pumping and sounds fantastic.

I love that they play ‘Destiny’ off the album ‘Ritual’ a personal favourite of mine.

Included are four killer tracks from Bloodlines that include ‘Edge of the World’, ‘Back for Good’, ‘Fire On The Horizon’ and the popular ‘A New Heartbeat’ that shows how much emphasis they put on their newest material elevating the fan experience.

Classics ‘Suzie Smiled’, ‘Love Potion Number 9’ and ‘Paris By Air’ always evoke the fan expectation of excitement and send the crowd into a frenzy.

The double LP will also include three bonus tracks ‘Insanity’, ‘Slave To Freedom’ and ‘Blood Red Sky’ so picking this format up is a must.

This energetic release proves that the Tygers still have lots of fuel in the tank. When I listen to a live album I want an immersive experience that teleports me to the live show experience and this album achieves that.

This live album could easily make my top live album of 2024, it’s that awesome. Pick this album up and play it at eleven.
