Holycide – Towards Idiocracy

Holycide formed in 2012. This Spanish thrash metal band releasing their 3rd full length studio album Towards Idiocracy.

This album is full of the 80’s thrash sound that influenced them back in the 80’s. Band like Exodus, Violence, Dark Angel and more.

The lead track ‘A.I. Supremacy’ immediately launches with massive, fast, and brutal guitar riffs. The title track follows, opening with galloping riffs, abundant machine-gun drumming, and the pace only slows for brief interludes and, of course, rapid-fire guitar solos. I’ve always been a fan of relentless riffing. The mosh pit is sure to be electrified.

‘Lie Is The New Truth’ kicks off with rapid riffs and a blistering lead, yet the song varies its pace with numerous stops and tempo changes. Dave Rotten, (formerly of Christ Denied, Avulsed, etc) showcases his distinctive barking, chanting vocals throughout, particularly on ‘Power Corrupts’.

‘Technophobia’ showcases melodic guitar solos by Salva Esteban and Ankor Ramírez. Drummer Santi Arroyo “GoG” unleashes a furious performance on the kit in ‘Angry For Nothing,’ while bassist Vicente J. Payá contributes to the band’s deeper, crushing sound.

At track eight they throw in a classic thrash cover of Atrophy‘s Chemical Dependency. The album finishes off with 2 more crushers.

The album could have benefited from incorporating more slow sections or tempo variations. However, if you appreciate old-school thrash executed with the intended speed, raw harsh vocals, thunderous drums, and an abundance of riffs, then this is definitely for you.

Towards Idiocracy comes out June 6th which coincidentally is the day of Slayer!! Album will be released on Xtreem Music and you can order HERE
