Deceivers
The Swedish-North American band Arch Enemy’s new album – “Deceivers,” has a release
date of August 12, 2022. on Century Media Records. It’s now the 3rd album with Canadian Alissa White-Gluz on vocals, and the 2nd with American Guitarist Jeff Loomis.
The band’s lineup is:
Alissa White-Gluz – Vocals
Michael Amott – Guitars
Jeff Loomis – Guitars
Sharlee D’Angelo – Bass
Daniel Erlandsson – Drums
“Deceivers” is a good song writing progression from the previous 2 albums, “War Eternal” and “Will To Power,” with perhaps a shade more on par to the latter. It offers 10 Tracks, along with a one minute and a half Instrumental “Intro” piece.
There’s a lot here to digest, and it actually took a couple of listens for me to really start appreciating the album. That’s nothing new under the sun, many an album has been like that, and it doesn’t detract from the overall quality of the album. “Deceivers” features everything you’d expect from Arch Enemy. Great musicianship from the entire band, aggressive vocals, and a powerful sound. To me they’re less of a “Death Metal” band, but more of a Metal Band with Harsh Vocals. The trademark Guitar harmonies are still there, with both Michael and Jeff playing fantastic Lead Solo parts. And “Deceivers” has another Track with Alissa singing Clean Vocals. She has an excellent singing voice… and I don’t think I’m alone in wanting more of this in the future.
From the up-tempo “One Last Time,” to “House of Mirrors,” to the aforementioned “Handshake With Hell,” “Decievers” is a good Arch Enemy album! Well done.
