Live Concert Review (Sept. 2022, Vienna, Austria)
Hey guys, my name is SIRIUS, an Austrian witch with a huge enthusiasm for music – especially Metal and movie soundtracks. Music is the most important part of my life as long as I can remember and like my daily companion, so it just happened naturally that I started writing about concerts, albums and doing interviews with bands. I used to write lyrics for Death Metal bands and I’m very curious what my next project as a writer will be! Thanks to Blake (owner THE METAL PIT) I’m here to let you know about my own personal opinions on different stuff related to music, especially concert reviews. They will mostly be about what happens around the music and the shows, so I would recommend listening to the bands while reading my reviews.. It will give you the right vibe to dive into it.
My first concert review on here is about the tour of Stillbirth (Brutal Surf Death Metal/Germany),
Organectomy (Slamming Death Metal/New Zealand) and Gutslit (Extreme Metal/India) at the Viper Room in Vienna, September 4th, 2022.
It was my first time seeing all of these artists live and since being a Sunday, I wasn’t expecting that much energy as it was definitely set free that night.
It all began with me arriving and being friendly greeted with a handshake from the guitarist of Gutslit, wearing a huge smile while showing me their merch and gifting me a wristband. So I felt welcome right from the start which did not change until I was leaving.
It’s not that common that you meet three bands and everybody seems to be in a good mood, open, friendly and kind through the whole evening.
So after a while Gutslit got on stage and woke up everyone at the venue more and more with every song. I was immediately catched by the unique moves the singer does while he let loose his deep growls and the groove mixed into the brutal and heavy sounds and songs. It seemed that all members appreciated every second of being on stage, which was a real pleasure to witness.
Definitely one of the bands I’m having on my agenda now whenever I can see them, because it’s not only the music that you will remember after a show from these nice and modest guys from Mumbai.
Next up was Organectomy, who were my main reason to join the concert. I’m sure these dudes even know how to freeze time while changing from massive fast drum parts to slow and intense slamming riffs, which let you slide into unknown spheres. Well performed from all members – this was a show that gave me goosebumps and visions, that we will hear a lot more of these guys in the future! Especially the song “concrete” was unreal to finally hear live, to soak in every single part of it after listening to it on repeat for a while, this was a blast to experience!
And last but never least… Stillbirth started to do their thing, and as I honestly had zero expectations… I was completely blown away by their appearance, energy and above all motivation to end this night with a bang! All members gave everything they had, it made you think it‘s the first day of the tour and not the 19th show in only 18 days! So much fun, sweat, heavy dance moves, and their brutal music which made you move and mosh, even when you’re actually too tired for it. Who is into this kind of music but not smiling or moving (even just a little) at a show of these german stoner dudes, must be already dead inside if you ask me!
They make good use of their wireless equipment – not only started the singer a wall of death – no, all except the drummer joined a circle pit while they performed the last song and enjoyed it to their fullest with massive smiles and joy on their faces. So if you need something to make party to, to celebrate or just let loose, Stillbirth will be the right choice with their show. I’ll surely never miss a chance to see these four fellas in their swimming shorts, working their asses off for the audience and giving more than you could ever expect!
So count me in whenever one of these bands hit the stage in a reachable area. If you ask me, the tickets were too cheap for what I got, so I spoiled myself with a lot of merch to support the artists and remember this awesome night whenever I‘m wearing it!
