Introduction

Formed in 2013 in South Florida, Traitors emerged as a pioneering force in the deathcore scene, known for their signature blend of slow, sludgy downtempo riffs that redefined the genre. Their debut single, “Arrogance,” quickly gained traction, propelling the band into the spotlight just four months after its release. This momentum led to their first nationwide tour, establishing Traitors as a formidable presence in the metal community. The release of their critically acclaimed EP Night Terrors in 2015 further solidified their reputation, showcasing the band’s ability to infuse raw aggression with hauntingly atmospheric elements. Traitors have continued to evolve their sound over the years, releasing four full-length albums, including The Hate Campaign and Anger Issues, which have become cornerstones of their discography.

Production & Sound

This album was incredible to listen to, you could really feel the passion in their production and the lyrics in every song. They took everything you’d expect from a deathcore album and blew it out of the park. It was beautifully mixed, you could hear every instrument, every note and every word perfectly clearly, I honestly look forward to hearing about how they play live in their tours.

Songwriting & Composition

Every song really keeps you engaged, these songs live would be the perfect songs to mosh too, the breakdowns are great and no two are the same. A nice little switch up of the flow and vibe of the album is the song “Interlude” no lyrics in this track apart from a “man fuck you” ad-lib and it really keeps the energy up for the album., but you will be surprised with a little jazz riff at the end of interlude before Traitors bring the heat back in with “Trauma Bond” Are the songs memorable?

Standout Tracks

My personal stand out tracks would definitely be Deprieve, Trauma Bond, and 10DXM. These three just really have the heavy flow to it, the beautiful drums and the chuggy guitar we all know and love.

Final Thoughts

Traitors album Phobia is another must listen. This is really one of those where I can only say so much about it and I definitely love it but I have to ask you, the reader. Does the album bring something fresh to the genre? Is it a must-listen or just for die-hard fans?
