Introduction to VOIDFALLEN

Finnish melodic death metal heavyweights VOIDFALLEN will unleash the band’s upcoming sophomore album “The Rituals of Resilience” on January 24, 2025, via Noble Demon. Originally conceived as a two-man project in 2019 by guitarists Tommi Kangaskortet and Henri Vuorenmaa, VOIDFALLEN has evolved into aformidable force, expanding their lineup with talented musicians to bring their powerful compositions to life on stage. Their debut album, ‘The Atlas of Spiritual Apocalypse’, released in 2021, showcased the band’s ability to blend aggression andmelody seamlessly and with their forthcoming album “The Rituals of Resilience”, VOIDFALLEN are poised to elevate their sound to new heights, delivering acrushing blow to the melodic death metal scene.

Sound & Production

The production of The Rituals of Resilience is beautiful, having the pleasure to listen to this album, you will not find a song you can’t enjoy, there’s really something for everyone on the album. Having the intense double kicks throughout the songs, with the melodic piano keeping everyone engaged as well as the twin guitars harmonies pulling it all together with the bass guitarist complimenting every second. The balance between melody and aggression is meticulously crafted.

Songwriting & Highlights

Opening with ‘Threads of Blood,’ the album waste no time in establishing its melodic yet heavy identity, it stands out with its haunting lead melodies. ‘The Original Wound’ starts us off very quietly before erupting into this fast and intense guitar harmony which brings us the aggression. ‘Pyre of Vengeance ‘ really switches up their sound with the introduction being mainly on piano, and when we hear the start of the vocals its clean and smoothly transitions into his screams. And to choose my final highlight of this album I have to go with ‘The Mourning Shores’ its an amazing song which really makes you feel powerful with its melodies form the guitars, the drums and piano keeping pace for the song all the while not overpowering the lyrics.

Final Verdict

Voidfallen – The Rituals of Resilience is honestly one of those albums for me where you wish you can go back and listen to it for the first time again, but no matter how many times you do listen to it you will not get bored of it, there’s just so many things to listen to in each individual song, e.g. focus on vocals on one playthrough, focus on guitar the next, focus on piano the next. This really was a masterpiece you will not regret listening too.
