November 4, 2024
Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Monday nights, November 4, 2024 to be exact, have never looked more metal, especially when it’s hosted by ex-Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach with singer, songwriter, and actor, Kurt Deimer, in tow. Venue, Frank J Pasquerilla Convention Center, doesn’t seem to see many shows plow through, so this duo was sure to rattle the walls as well as they could. This man has been up and at ’em for over 4 decades, whether it’s with this band, that band, or on his own. Given he’s not playing as big of venues as he once had, the middle of nowhere (Johnstown) Pennsylvania is more than happy to house this rock royalty.
This was my second time having the privilege of seeing Bach perform live and each time it’s been nothing short of breathtaking. He puts every ounce of himself into his performances and it makes the crowd wanna kick down a door right there with him! Having such an intimate venue forces the artist and audience to connect which for die hard fans makes it all worthwhile. Musically, I’m a Skid Row girly and I tend to lean towards songs that’re tried and true; I’m not a huge fan of his solo work, however, you can still taste a hint of his early discography in those songs. To be fair, how you can’t go wrong with a setlist chock-full of Skid Row hits!
Sebastian Bach’s solo band is:
Sebastian Bach – vocals
Clay Eubank – bass
Brody DeRozie – guitars
Paris Bach – drums
Assuming doors opening had nothing to do with Bach, we storm the metal detectors with fervor a half an hour later than anticipated. It’s safe to say I did not expect to see as many grown men at this show that I did. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I just assumed a pretty blonde man attracted women, y’know? Anyhow, Bach took the stage just the same as he did over 30 years ago -with utmost intensity. The last time I saw him and his band was more than 5 years ago and it’s safe to say that he’s only but amplified his stage performance. Perhaps I was sweating bullets as I was snapping photos left and right because he looked directly in my lens and ordered me to, “Stand the F*CK up,” to get better shots of him and the crowd. I’ve never been more honored to get yelled at by a grown man in public. I’m just glad that I wasn’t the one who suffered Bach’s rage when someone had decided to pick a fight in the second row, causing him to stop the show entirely. Aside from that, his showmanship hasn’t faltered from his days in Skid Row and it was clear as day that he’s come for blood and is showing no mercy. He embodies the youth that had truly gone wild.
