I picked Obituary – Dying of Everything as my top album release of 2023. As a huge death metal fan Obituary has always been one of my favourites. This album has it all from the signature guttural vocals to the booming bass, pounding drums and killer guitar riffs.
My favourite tracks are ‘Barely Alive’ which starts the album into a frenzy that would ignite any mosh pit and ‘My Will To Live’ that has a slower, sludgy death metal sound. The whole album is a 10/10.
2023 was a strong year for metal releases and the resurgence of live shows are evidence that metal is alive and well.
